John Lamar Jones

Born May 24th, 1947, in Houston, TX. John was the second child of LaFrona Faye Walden and Jack Vernice Jones. John passed into the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, April 9th, 2023, with his lifelong friend Ronnie Ray Smelly by his side.

John is survived by his son Bobby Clay Jones, daughter Jolene Lanell Jones; 2 grandchildren Brandon Taylor Jones and Aimee Lynn Chase; 1 great granddaughter Abbie Lynn Chase; sisters Jacqueline Lanell Mathew and Nancy Gayle Mitchell; Nephews Mitchell Mathew and Todd Mitchell; Niece Shannon Blackwell.

John served his country in the U.S. Air Force earning several honorable medals during the Vietnam War from 1966 - 1970. After riding the circuit in the PRCA for 14 years, he worked for the City of Frisco for 23 dedicated years. Retiring in 2006 at the age of 58, he found and built what he dreamed of his whole life on the 35 acres he called home in Winnsboro, Texas.
