John Harold Pence, born December 30, 1937 in Diboll, Texas, left to be with the Lord on January 23, 2008 in Yantis, Texas. He was preceded in death by parents, Charles Norval Pence, Jr. and Hassie Dee Pence and by one brother, Don Pence. John served eight years in the U.S. Army including 18 months in the Korean conflict before being honorbly discharged in 1963. After 30 years of service at DuPont Sabine River Works in Orange, Texas, he retired and built his home in Lake Fork, Texas. John served in the Texas State Volunteer Guard Services for four years, retiring in 2006 after providing relief assistance following hurricanes Katrina and Rita. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mrs. Annie Laura Nelson Pence of Yantis; son, John H. Pence, Jr. and Mona Pence of Thorndale; daughter, L. Dee Ann (Pence) and Dr. Noble B. Rainwater; grandchildren, Yasmine Laura Lalouani and Joshua Ryan rainwater of Murphy; two brothers, Charles N. Pence, III of Idaho and Douglas W. Pence of Orange, TX and one sister, Judy Windham of Irving, TX.
Family will receive friends from 6-8PM on Friday, January 25, at the Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro with funeral services to be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, January 26 at the Lake Fork Baptist Church of Alba. Interment will follow at the Lake Fork Baptist Cemetery.
If desired, memorials may be made to the Lake Fork Baptist Church Youth Group.
