Johnnie Stokes

Johnnie R. Stokes was born in Crow Tx, on January 24, 1938, passing way at the age 87 on April 3, 2025. Johnnie was an accomplished man. He began his college journey on a football scholarship at Tyler Junior College before continuing his education at Louisiana Tech University, where he studied Petroleum Engineering. He went on to have a successful career as a petroleum engineer, contributing to the industry with dedication,

intelligence, and passion.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, Alva Stokes and Lora Hail Stokes, as well as his brothers Homer, Alton, and Noble, sisters Opal Evelyn and Joreene.

He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Danese Cecil Stokes. Together, Johnnie and Danese shared a deep love for family, traveling, and making cherished memories together. He is also survived by his son Doug Stokes wife Karre and daughter Susan, along with her husband Mark Farris. Through marriage, Johnnie was blessed with

Mandy and her husband Billy Roper, as well as Jason and his wife Tiffany Cecil—all of whom he loved as his own and held close to his heart.

In addition to his immediate family, Johnnie had a deep love for animals and found great comfort in the company of his beloved fur babies—Sassy, Remi, Lexi, and his cherished cat, Chloe. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often spending peaceful hours outdoors, sitting in his swing or tending to his garden. Johnnie also enjoyed hunting, traveling, and splitting wood, but above all, he treasured time with his family He was the proud grandfather of Brad and his wife Jaime Farris, Lindsey and her husband Troy Malek, Miranda and husband Alex Zecha, Kenzie, Maddie, Tristan, Logan, Cameron, and Sydney. He was also a loving great-grandfather to Sydney, Louis, Annie, Cody, and Brooklyn. His presence will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, and

extended family members, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to their wonderful neighbors and friends—Billy and Karen Osteen, Randy and Wendy Gay, Tim and Cynthia Redden, and Pastor Ron and Michelle Ivey for their loving care and support of Johnnie over the years , heartfelt thanks to Trent Moon and Diane Williams for the time they gave so generously to help, to care, and to share such special moments with him. Their kindness meant so much during times when it mattered most. Johnnie will be remembered for his warmth, his deep love for his family, and his gentle spirit. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
