Johnnie James Wilson

June 26, 1947 — February 11, 2025

Johnnie James Wilson, 77, of Como, Texas, passed away on February 11, 2025. He was born

on June 26, 1947, to James Parker Wilson and Gertrude Littlefield.


Johnnie spent his early years working in the oilfields before transitioning into ranching, where he

found his true passion. Known for his strong work ethic and love of the land, he took great pride

in making custom hay bales for the community, gardening, tending to his cows, and restoring

and driving his old tractors.


On July 17, 1970, Johnnie married the love of his life, Carolyn Cox, and together they built a life

centered around family and hard work. He is survived by his daughters, Melinda Cobb and

Jackie Marks; his sisters, Mary Jane Wilson Cotton and Diane Bell; and his cherished

grandchildren, Christa Wood, Brittany Edwards, and Keith Thomason.


Johnnie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Wilson; his parents, James and

Gertrude Wilson; and his brothers, Gordon Lee Wilson, Billy Bob Wilson, Jerry Wayne Wilson,

and James Parker Wilson Jr.


Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Brown, Jim Brown, Randy Brown, Rhory Wilson, Bobby

Wilson, and Jerry Wilson.


Johnnie will be remembered for his dedication to family, his love of the land, and the kindness

he extended to those around him. His legacy of hard work and love will live on through his

family and all who knew him.
