It is with great sadness that the family of Johnny Mack Simmons announces his passing on June 15, 2022. Mr. Simmons was born on June 18, 1942, in DeKalb, Texas, to the late Arthur and Fannie May (Walker) Simmons. He worked at Winnsboro I.S.D. and once retired began mowing yards to stay active and earn a couple extra dollars. Johnny loved playing his guitar and enjoyed listening to gospel music. He especially loved his family and getting together for the holidays. Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his parents; wife Cecilia Simmons; grandson Darrien Simmons; brothers Thomas, Charles, Bernard, and Gilbert; sisters May Borrer, Jessie Jo Sargent, Mary Frances Tarwater, Martha Harris, and Bessie Smith. Johnny is survived by his sons Mike Simmons and Daniel Simmons; daughters Lisa Edward and Tammey Larey; Sister Virginia Tutt; grandchildren Jenna Simmons, Dakota Simmons, Ethan Edwards, Logan Edwards, Justin Simmons, Ayden Dastillion, and Jace Larey. He was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, three of which he regarded as his own children Anita Moore, Gerald Tutt, and Renee Singleton. The service for Johnny will be held at Beaty Funeral Home chapel in Winnsboro on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Brother Ronny Spence, officiant.
