Joy LaVon Privette, 80, of Winnsboro, departed this life on December 5, 2023. Joy was born in Wellington, Kansas, to Ethelyn LaVon Blackmore and Warren Nelson Harris on April 19, 1943. She worked and retired from Brookshires in Winnsboro after 26 years. Joy always had a smile for the folks that walked into the store, and you could rest assured she was going to do a good job. Mrs. Privette enjoyed spending time with her family and church. Joy was an active member of Tinney Chapel United Methodist Church where she served on the Nomination Committee. She enjoyed her time at Sunday School and in the Womens group. Joy and her husband Gerald loved taking many trips to different countries and the cruises they took together. She was preceded in death by her parents Warren and Ethelyn; husband Gerald Lee Privette; daughter Jennifer Lavon Privette; son Gerry Lee Privette; sisters Vicky Yates and Jill Shannon Johnson; stepmother Marjorie Eileen Blackmore and stepmother Betty Jean Harris; stepsister Carolyn Sue Webb Hightower. Survivors include son Michael Privette and wife Carrie; grandchildren Nelson, Leighton, and Gracie Privette; sisters Nancy Hopkins half-sister Jody West; stepbrother Jim Webb; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 16th in the chapel of Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro followed by the funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Michael Moore, officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Nelson Privette, Leighton Privette, Gracie Privette, Chris Yates, and James Yates.
