Joyce Ann Woods Francis, born March 22, 1943, in Decatur, Illinois, passed away peacefully in her home in Mineola, Texas on June 18, 2015.
Joyce is remembered for her love of her grandchildren; the light of her life; for her endless creativity: jewelry making, songwriting, oil paintings, sewing, and crocheting beanies. She enjoyed being part of the Mineola League of the Arts, and helping to teach friends and grandchildren how to crochet. Joyce was also a member of the Mineola Red Hat Society.
She loved RV’ing with her beloved Schnauzers, and along with husband, Joe, (formerly of Wichita Falls, Texas) they caught many trout, do-sa-do’ed, and square danced the night away, always finding the best dessert in town. Relocating to Mineola from Lake Kiowa and Plano; Joyce didn’t let her heart transplant in 2011 get in her way. She continued enjoying life, playing games and training her grandkids in the ways of competitive cards and dice. She was known to allow grandkids to cheat and, for the record, they extended this same courtesy to her.
After countless hours of game playing, they would retire to the living room to watch movies well past their bedtime. Her love for movies and games lives on in her grandchildren: Matthew Disbrow, (Megan); Tiffany Francis Honea (Jon); Marissa Davis (Mitchell Beaty); Brittany Disbrow, Brice Francis, Kyle Davis, Michael Peoples, Alexandra Rossi, Samantha Peoples, Aston Francis, Halle Rossi, and Logan Francis. And her great grandchildren, Kayelee Honea, Kaden Honea, Chanel Francis, Charleigh Beaty, Jackson Disbrow, Hadley Beaty, and Isabella Disbrow.
She is survived by her husband, Joe and daughters, Debbie and Ken Davis (Mineola, Texas), Rhonda and Gregg Rossi (Austin, Texas), Sandi and Don Peoples (Plano, Texas); stepsons, Joey Francis Jr., (Tyler, Texas), Eddie and Misty Francis, (Tyler, Texas), and sisters Binnie Benscoter, (Decatur, Illinois), and Frances Stephens (Paducah, Kentucky).
She is preceded in death by her mother, Eunice Bundy Paul, father, Paul Woods, brother, Ronnie Woods, and step-brother, Bob Reeves. The funeral service will be held at 5PM on Sunday, June 21st at Beaty Funeral Home, Mineola. Rev. Keith Clark will be officiating. Visitation will be held at Beaty Funeral Home on Saturday, June 20th from 6-8PM. Burial will follow the funeral at Cedar Memorial Gardens in Mineola, TX.
