Joyce Morris

Joyce R. Morris, 96, of Hawkins, passed away the evening of January 3, 2020 in Quitman, TX. She was born in St. James, AR. December 5, 1923 to the late Finis Ford and Hix Beckham Ford. Joyce lived in the Wood County area for over thirty years having come from the Dallas area. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was Primitive Baptist by faith and was a member of Saints Rest Primitive Baptist Church in Dallas. On August 24, 1962 Joyce married Carey Morris and they made their home in the Hawkins area in 1988. Theirs was a welcoming home, open and friendly to all. Joyce is survived by her loving husband Carey; two sons, James Witherspoon and wife Linda of Holly Lake Ranch, Eddie Witherspoon and wife Hanna of Texarkana; two daughters, Judy Young and husband Kenneth of Duncanville, TX. and Gayle Pugh and husband Denny also of Duncanville, TX.; one brother Walter Ford and wife Carolyn; two sisters, Merlyn Uselton and husband Glen and Lenelle Davis; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other family and many loving friends. Services will be held at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola, at 2:00 pm Wednesday January 8, 2020 with Elder Carey Morris officiating.
