Karen Davidson Carnes, a cherished mother, dedicated educator, and loyal friend, who peacefully departed from us on October 16, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on March 22, 1951, in Dallas, Texas, Karen exemplified a life filled with passion, curiosity, and kindness.
For many years, Karen devoted herself to the education of countless students, inspiring and nurturing young minds as a schoolteacher. Her unwavering belief in the potential of every student, coupled with her compassionate approach, left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Karen's legacy continues through the lives she touched and the values she instilled.
In her personal life, Karen found joy in a variety of pursuits, including ceramics, gardening, music, and travel. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. A resident of Lindale, Texas, Karen created a loving home, where her greatest happiness stemmed from her family, particularly her daughter Kelly LaGrone and granddaughter Kameron Moore, who will forever cherish the love and memories shared with her remarkable mother and grandmother.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, John B. Davidson Jr. and Elna Harvey Davidson; stepmother, Alice Davidson and her sister, Elna Darlene Davidson.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelly LaGrone of Longview, Texas; her brother, John B. “Brack” Davidson; her sisters, Lana Sartin and husband Billy of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and Sara Davidson of Frisco, Texas; her granddaughter, Kameron Moore of Tyler, Texas; nieces Shawna Privett and Shannon Lawrence, both of Sulphur Springs; and numerous great-nieces.
Funeral services for Karen will be held on October 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather and share their memories at her burial site along Highway 11 in Como, Texas. This gathering will provide an opportunity to honor Karen’s life, celebrate her contributions, and offer comfort to one another.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local education charity in Karen’s name, in keeping with her commitment to shaping the future. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever reside in the hearts of those whose lives she enriched.
