Karen Sue Sims, 65, of Winnsboro, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on November 28, 1959, in Pittsburg, Texas, to the late Thurman and Annie Hart.
Karen was a talented athlete, excelling in basketball and track at Como-Pickton High School. Her love for sports continued throughout her life, as she found joy in cheering for her favorite teams and spending time fishing for catfish. She was the life of the party and as dope as Snoop Dogg, always bringing smiles and laughter to those around her with her bright and loving personality.
On April 10, 1981, Karen married the love of her life, Mark Sims. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to family. Karen had a special gift for caring for children and operated a daycare where she nurtured and guided many young lives. To this day, many of the children she cared for still consider her a second mother.
Karen is survived by her devoted husband, Mark Sims; her beloved daughter, LaTasha Taylor; and her cherished granddaughter, Trista Taylor. She also leaves behind her sister, Dana Hart; mother-in-law, Granny Wanda Sims; sister-in-law, Karen Sims; niece, Stacey Hart Bennett and her husband Ricky; and nephew, Eric Hart and his wife, Susan; along with numerous other nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thurman and Annie Hart; her brother, Joe Hart; and her nephew, Joey Thomas Hart Jr.
Karen's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever be remembered by those whose lives she touched. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
