Kay Morris was born in Chickasha, OK on October 7, 1939. She passed from this earth on November 27, 2009.
Kay was raised in Plainview, TX and lived there until she was 38 years old. Her nickname during this time was "Dickie" and her friends in Plainview still know her as that.
Kay's work history was in ladies clothing. She worked for 3 different boutiques in Texas, Louisiana and Kansas before marrying J.D. Morris of King's Country.
In 1998, Kay returned to school, earning the required hours and education to begin work as a substance abuse counselor. She went to work in this position at the Clyde Johnston Unit in Winnsboro. She loved this work and everyone concerned with it. She loved the Unit, the Staff and the men that were going through treatment. She loved it that they now had a chance.
Kay worked as Senior Counselor and couldn't work after May of 2009 due to bad health. She was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer at that time. She wanted the world to know that here was another silent killer--no symptoms until it was too late.
Kay is survived by the loves of her life, her children. Her daughter is Shelley Seeley, married to Tom Seeley of Dripping Springs, TX. Her son is Bill Perkins, married to Patty Perkins. They live in Fulshear, TX.
There are 3 grandsons, Josh, Tristan and Chance Perkins. They are all married to wonderful South Louisiana girls, Mitzi, Amy and Catherine. There are 5 great-grandchildren, so far!
Kay was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winnsboro. She loved that Church. It was essential to her life.
Kay said that the last year of her life, when God took her through cancer, was the best. She said that He showed her real community kindness through the people of Winnsboro. She had time and opportunity to enjoy her family. She said her children had all of the qualities that she worked for--that they were who she wanted to be when she grew up.
She loved her life and felt that she was blessed until the day of her death.
There will be a memorial service on Monday, November 30th, at 10:30 am at First Presbyterian Church in Winnsboro.
Any donations should be made to The Hospice of East Texas.
And I say "thank you" for a wonderful time in my life.
