Lacy Ruth Grider, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully in Fort Worth, Texas, on December 8, 2025, just shy of her 92nd birthday. Born on January 9, 1934, in Navarro County, Texas to Ollie and Bessie Colston Rickman, Lacy lived a life rich with love, resilience, and a profound connection to her family and community.
Lacy married her devoted husband, Everett Olen Grider, and shared 26 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 1979. Their marriage was filled with companionship, memories, and unwavering support for one another. Together, they built a life that celebrated simple joys and deep-rooted traditions.
An accomplished woman, Lacy graduated from Nursing School, where her compassion and dedication to care for others blossomed. During her nursing career, she worked at the hospital and various nursing homes in the Winnsboro area as well as in home health care. She found joy in nurturing not only her family but also the land she lived on as she and Olen ran a dairy farm. Her remarkable talents extended into every aspect of her life. She had a passion for crocheting, knitting, and reading. Additionally, Lacy cherished her time spent gardening, where she found tranquility and joy in cultivating the beauty of nature.
Although she never had any children of her own, Aunt Lacy treated all of her nieces and nephews as if they were her own.
She leaves behind her dear brother, George Emory Rickman of Franklin, Texas, who, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, will carry on her legacy of kindness and strength. Lacy was preceded in death by her loving parents and the cherished siblings who have welcomed her into the peaceful embrace of eternity: brothers, Dean Rickman, OD Rickman, Charles Rickman, Nathan Rickman, Thomas Alford Rickman, and Raymon Lee Rickman; as well as her dear sisters, Juanita McIntire and Reba Ann Rickman.
Lacy's life was a testament to the values she held dear, family, love, and a deep-rooted connection to the earth. As we gather to remember her at the graveside service on December 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Winnsboro, TX, we will celebrate a woman who was not only the heart of her family but also a beacon of warmth and generosity to all who knew her.
Though she has departed from this world, the love and memories shared with Lacy will forever be cherished. She was the sweetest soul and was loved by all who met her. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
