Larry Lee Wells, aged 80, of Mineola, Texas, passed away on April 23, 2024. Born on April 30, 1943, in Mineola, to parents Wallace Leroy Wells and Goldie Jewell Few Wells Lawson, Larry spent his entire life in the town he loved.
Known for his mechanical ingenuity and love of racing cars, Larry was a true jack-of-all-trades who could often be found tinkering in his garage or discussing his latest project. His passion for machinery was matched only by his enthusiasm for gun collecting, a hobby that brought him much joy and many friendships throughout the years.
Larry's life was marked by the deep bonds he formed with family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Owens Wells; his son, Chad Wells, and wife Angela; his daughters, Susan Longworth and husband Chad, and Laura Wells; his sisters, Darla Dossett and husband Glen, Linda Fagan and husband Bill; and his brother, Harold Wells and wife Linda Kay. Larry was also a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who will miss his larger-than-life presence and endless stories.
Predeceased by his daughter, Sherri Myers and first wife, Carolyn Wells. Larry leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the kind of practical wisdom that only a life well-lived can impart.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Larry's memory to Rosehill Food Pantry or Kindness Cottage, organizations that were close to his heart.
Larry will be remembered as a man who lived life on his own terms, with a wrench in one hand and a smile on his face, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
