Laura Lorine Tharp

Laura L. "Billie" Lanier Tharp, age 81, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2006 in Winnsboro. Billie was born on December 3, 1921 in Palestine to the late Davis Monroe and Amanda Huntsberger Lanier. The former Miss Lanier married the late Rufie Tharp on October 28, 1943 in Fort Sill, OK. Billie was retired from the State of Texas, an avid reader, gardner, a member and supporter of the Republican Party of Texas, and a member of the World War II veterans association. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and twin brothers, Lee and Leland Lanier. She is survived by her only daughter, Leann Tharp of Winnsboro; brother, Lonnie Lanier and his wife Marie of Winnsboro; two sisters-in-law, Martha Lanier of Houston, Jimmie Lanier of Oklahoma; four nephews, one niece, numerous great nieces and nephews; and two beloved pets, Von and Sabrina.
