Obituary for Laurie Sue Harberson
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Laurie Sue Harberson, beloved sister and aunt, who departed this life on February 7, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on August 6, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas, Laurie lived a life characterized by her unwavering passion for architecture, her love of animals, and her enduring commitment to environmental causes.
Laurie was a distinguished graduate of the University of Texas, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree and laid the foundation for a successful career as an architect.
Laurie's main passion and devotion other than to her husband, Cal, was to her horses. She loved all animals, but she found a deep sense of connection to horses. She held many ribbons and awards from competitions with her Arabian horses, which she proudly displayed.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Laurie was a devoted advocate for the natural world. She actively supported organizations such as Greenpeace, demonstrating her profound love for animals and her dedication to preserving the environment for future generations. Her compassion and kindness extended beyond her work, as she embraced animals in her home and heart.
Laurie is survived by her cherished sister, Roxanne Leitner, and her dear niece, Christine King. She brought joy, strength, and inspiration to their lives, and her memory will be forever held in their hearts.
Laurie was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Harberson II; parents, Robert Fred Spencer, Laurie Spencer, and brothers, Lyle John Spencer and Ralph Spencer.
A memorial service honoring Laurie's remarkable life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to come together to celebrate her legacy. We invite all who knew and loved her to join in remembrance of a truly remarkable woman who embodied grace, creativity, and compassion.
In this time of sorrow, may we find comfort in shared memories and the enduring impact Laurie had on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
