Lavernia ""Mutt"" Harris (Taylor)

Lavernia Beatrice Harris, affectionately known as “Verna” or “Mutt”, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025 at the age of 62. She was born on February 9th, 1962 to James and Carolyn Taylor.

All who knew her knew she lived a huge life full of love, laughter, and unapologetic authenticity. She was a vibrant soul who embraced every moment, loved fiercely, gave selflessly, and left an indelible mark on everyone she met.

Verna is preceded in death by her father, James Edgar Taylor, and his wife Patsy Lynn Taylor; Mother, Carolyn Beatrice Taylor, and her husband Don “Red Dog” Riley; son, Joeseph Leonard Williams; and sister, Melissa “Missy” Taylor.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Dawn Knalls, and two grandsons, Chance and Jimmy; brothers, Frank Taylor and his wife Annette Taylor, James Taylor and his wife Brandy Taylor, and Jimmy Hudson; sisters, Crystal Taylor and Kelly Jinright; her favorite Aunt Sheila Hudson; many nieces and nephews; cousins; innumerable friends; and last but not least, her beloved dog, Peanut.

Forever remembered for a life lived loudly, boldly, and unapologetically her own, she brought light, laughter and love wherever she went. She leaves her loved ones as a legend with the biggest heart that welcomed all. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to inspire, and her memory will forever be cherished by all who were lucky enough to know her.

A memorial celebration will be held on Sunday January 26th at 11am at the Family Community Center of Alba at 147 Hopkins St., Alba, TX 75410. The family welcomes all who wish to celebrate Mutt’s life.
