Leslie Herlocker, age 41 of Mineola, TX passed away on Sunday, November 17th 2019 in Tyler, TX. She was born April 21, 1978 in Tyler, TX to David Carroll and Penny Heddin. Leslie grew up in Grand Saline, TX. As a child, Leslie was an active little girl who was very easy-going and loved to spend time outdoors as well as playing with her little brothers Adam and Spencer. In eighth grade, Leslie moved to Mineola, TX where she was once described as the fastest girl in East Texas. Leslie was a good student and spent time playing basketball, volleyball and running track. She graduated from Mineola High School in 1996 as an honor graduate. Leslie spent the next two years at Tyler Junior College before transferring to Texas A&M University in College Station. She was a proud member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 2000 and graduated with a degree in Agribusiness. In 2003, Leslie started one of her most important jobs in life which was the role of mother to her daughter Riley Carroll Donohoe. Leslie lived her young adult life in Tyler and Mineola, TX where she began working in the banking industry. In 2010, she married Jim Herlocker and they welcomed their daughter Avery Jane later that year. Leslie and Jim have raised the girls in Mineola, TX alongside many family and friends. Leslie had a unique and special way of bringing her blended family together. To her, there was no step, no half – just family. Leslie was originally diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and fought an incredibly brave battle for over eight years. Leslie will be remembered by her closest friends and family for her humor, wit, sarcasm, and overwhelming positivity. Leslie loved engaging in friendly competition with her family through multiple sporting events, spending time at the lake, cooking, playing cards, traveling, golfing and just hanging out. Leslie will always be remembered as an excellent mother to Riley and Avery. She spent many days as an active mom through East Texas Twisters, softball seasons and basketball games. Most importantly, Leslie had a strong faith in God which brought her and her family comfort in the recent months. Leslie had a fighting spirit, was a peacemaker and an authentic friend to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her brother Adam Carroll and grandfather Marshall Heddin. She is survived by her husband Jim Herlocker, daughters Riley Donohoe and Avery Jane Herlocker, mother Penny Heddin, father David and Rita Carroll, brother Spencer Lucas, grandmother, Betty Lovett Heddin, step grandmother, Linda Kay Heddin, stepdaughters Stacy Mullinax, Kristen Scavuzzo, and Jamie Gibbon as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 19th 2019 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Beaty Funeral Home 5320 S State Hwy 37 Mineola, TX 75773. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 20th 2019 at First Methodist Church of Mineola at 11:00 am. Rev. Demethruis Boyd will be conducting and interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Garden in Mineola, with Mark Busby, Eddie Akins, Troy Carroll, Dale Carroll, Glen Thurman and Johnny Sherrill serving as pallbearers.
