Leta Fern Walker, 82, of Mineola, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025. Born on August 15, 1942, in Van Zandt County, she was the beloved daughter of Raymond James and Adel Walker James. Leta was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her.
Leta spent her career as a manager in the manufacturing industry, demonstrating dedication and strong leadership throughout her years of service. She was an avid bowler and fisherman, and her love for the sport led her to become the Women’s Mineola City Bowling Champion in 2001. Since 1998, she was a faithful member of Lake Country Bible Church, where she found great joy and community.
She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Michael Walker; sons, Albert Gray of Gilmer, Texas, and Raymond Gray and wife Carol of Hallsville, Texas; daughter, Stacie Gray of Mineola, Texas; brother, David James and wife Maxie of Chandler, Texas; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Leta was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Melinda Graves, and her brothers Walter James, Billy Ray James, and Ronnie James.
A funeral service will be held at Lake Country Bible Church on February 14, 2025, at 10:00 am. Interment will follow the funeral service at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Mineola, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lake Country Bible Church in her honor.
Leta’s legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
