Leveda Ann Carey

Leveda Ann Roper Carey, born May 8, 1938 in Mt Pleasant, Texas, went to be with our heavenly father on May 4, 2021. Leveda attended Mt. Pleasant High School and graduated in 1956. She moved to Dallas the very next day and began working for Allus Chambers as a Secretary. Her office was just 2 blocks from where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. In June of 1956 she began college at Park Business College. While attending college she worked for Al Sumpter Drug Company. On September 14,1956, Leveda married Curtis Carey. Their first-born child, Yvonne Carey Kirbow, was born November 8, 1957. In January of 1969, Curtis and Leveda adopted a 7-day old baby boy (Richard Lee Carey). She was very happy after that and felt her family was complete. Leveda was a homebuilder, regular church goer and loving wife. She loved the Lord and read her Bible daily. Leveda was proceeded in death by her brother, JD (Red) Roper and her mother and father. Leveda leaves behind her spouse of 65 years, Curtis Carey. 2 children, daughter Yvonne Carey Kirbow, spouse Randy Kirbow and son Richard Lee Carey. 3 grandchildren, Justin Kevin Kirbow, Amy Kirbow Fields, spouse David Fields and Brittany Lee Carey. 4 great grandchildren, Hayden Kevin Kirbow, Dawson Allen Fields, Hayley Elizabeth Kirbow and Ian Troy Alexander Carey. Funeral Services for Mrs. Carey will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola. interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
