Linda Joy Newman, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and community leader, passed away on September 4, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on October 25, 1943, in Winnsboro, Texas, Linda was the cherished daughter of Joe Tom Kennemer and Frances Turner Kenney.
Linda spent her formative years in her hometown of Winnsboro, where she was deeply rooted in both her family and community. She pursued higher education at Paris Junior College before embarking on a dedicated career in healthcare administration. Linda’s professional journey included significant roles at Winnwood Nursing Home and Presbyterian Hospital in Winnsboro, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of many.
A vibrant member of her community, Linda was actively involved in several organizations. She was a proud member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and the Standard Club, where she served two terms as president. Her faith was central to her life, and she was a devoted member of Pine Street Baptist Church, where she found both solace and purpose.
Linda's hobbies and passions included spending time with her family, painting, and attending concerts and plays. Her most treasured accomplishment was raising her sons, a role she embraced with love and dedication.
Linda is survived by her husband, Steve Newman; her son Tommy Shane Adams and his wife, Ruth; her sister, Kathy Mitchell and her husband, Dean; and her cherished grandchildren, Dillon Adams, Jack Adams, Autry Adams, Aaron Adams,Stephanie Bise, Aaron Howerton and Courtney Huckabee . She also leaves behind beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her son Timothy Scott Adams.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Gleaners Sunday School class at Pine Street Baptist Church in Winnsboro, in Linda’s honor.
Linda Joy Newman will be remembered for her kindness, dedication to her family, and unwavering commitment to her community. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
