Linda Kay Vahrenkamp

January 6, 1941 — September 23, 2024

Linda Kay Vahrenkamp, age 83, of Winnsboro, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2024. She was born on January 6, 1941, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Joseph and Marjorie Richardson.

Linda worked as an administrative assistant in the banking industry until her retirement. Known for her exceptional cooking and baking, Linda also had a green thumb, with a particular passion for roses. She was an active member of the Dallas Rose Society, where she enjoyed cultivating her love for gardening.

During her years as an Army wife, Linda embraced the opportunity to travel and immerse herself in the cultures of the many places she lived. She was a devoted mother who also served as a scout den mother. Linda’s love for animals was clear, especially her affection for cats, horses, and her beloved dog, Rex.

A lover of unique treasures, Linda could often be found thrift shopping, always on the lookout for one-of-a-kind antiques. She also had a fondness for collecting nutcrackers, Christmas ornaments, and rare plants. Linda was an avid sports fan, cheering for the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys, and she had a deep appreciation for art, especially photography.

Above all, Linda cherished her family, and her grandchildren held a special place in her heart.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marjorie Richardson. She is survived by her daughter, Venetia Gentzler, and her son-in-law, Stephen; her son, Bill Vahrenkamp, and her daughter-in-law, Tanya; her sister, Janet Coe and her brother-in-law, Joe, sister Barbara Panter and her brother-in-law, Sam; brother John Richardson and sister-in-law Lauren. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Cyra Phelan, and her spouse, Keith; her grandson, Aaron Gentzler; her great-grandchildren, Tristan and Kaylee Phelan; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Linda’s legacy of love, family, and her many passions will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
