Lois was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, August 23 at Rock Creek Health and Rehab. Lois Edell was born October 13,1920 in Titus County, Texas the daughter of William Auther Newkirk and Fannie Music (Hill) Newkirk. Lois married Dennis Brumley on a Sat. morning June 28, 1940. They went to find the preacher Rev. Hammons, who at that time was cleaning out a well. Dennis hollered down to him to come up and marry them. And there begins the story of 64 years of marriage, good times and bad times til Dennis's death in 2004. Proverbs 31:10 "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies." Didn't matter if she had been milking or tending to the sick her home was always open to everyone, peas and cornbread on the stove and sweet ice tea, I can taste it now! Lois taught school at the Winterfield School, then went on to work as a nurse. Milked cows and ran a dairy then found time to start her own business out of her home making and selling uniforms for the public. A thriving business she ran in her home and now located in Sulphur Springs, Brumley's Uniforms , which she ran for 35 years and it continues today under the ownership of her youngest daughter Judy . And she still raised 7 children and took in quite a few others. Lois was faithful servant and member of the Winterfield Baptist Church for 82 years. Lois is survived by3 sons and daughter-in-laws, Gary & Lana Brumley, Mark & Patti Brumley and Jr. & June Brumley all of Pickton. Four daughters and son in laws Pam & Rickie Allen, Hilda & Jimmy Cummings of Pickton, Judy Watts of Quitman and Sally & Ronnie Gunn of Pickton, 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grand children and 1 great-great-grand child, and 1 more on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband one sister Mamie Newkirk and four brothers Leonard, Walter, Ed and Howard Newkirk. "Nannie" will be lovingly missed everyday.
