Lois Christene Wilcox Overstreet, 101, died on November 3, 2019. She was born to Luther and Birdie Lemons on May 12, 1918. She had 3 brothers, Leonard, Otis and Delmar. She had two sisters Ruby Edwards and Beulah Fae Whitter. All preceded her in death. On November 8, 1936 she married Willard Wilcox and to them was born 2 sons, Doyce and Ronald. Doyce preceded her in death on December 3, 2015. On November 3, 1973 she married Melvin Overstreet and he preceded her in death. She is survived by son Ronald Wilcox, granddaughter Arlene Kinard and her husband John of Plano; three great-grandchildren Robert, Travis and Johnathan; great-great granddaughters Elaine and Leia. On September 1, 1939 she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in a pond in the Winnsboro area. For the past 80 years she preached the good news in Hopkins, Franklin and Wood counties. She was on the streets of Winnsboro in 1942 when persecution was taking place. In the earlier days there was a Kingdom Hall built in Winnsboro in which she was there. She was faithful in talking to people on the telephone up to October of this year. She loved to work on the farm in making truck crops. We can look forward to seeing her in the resurrection in paradise working in the field. She could make anything grow. The family will receive friends at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro on Saturday, November 9th from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery in Winnsboro.
