Lois Agnes Slayton, a beloved homemaker, was born on April 8, 1935, in Hawkins, Texas. She passed away peacefully on May 24, 2024, at the age of 89. Lois was the cherished daughter of Sylis Hicks and Mary B. Hicks.
A lifelong resident of Texas, Lois dedicated her life to her family and her faith. She was a member of the Sand Springs Baptist Church, where she found great joy and solace in her community and her spirituality.
Lois married the love of her life, Joe Slayton, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and countless memories. Known for her warm heart and welcoming spirit, Lois never met a stranger. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel like family and took great pleasure in meeting new people.
Lois is survived by her grandchildren: Damita Williams, Joshua Slayton and his wife Elizabeth, and Destiny Slayton. She also leaves behind ten great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, who will continue to carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joe Slayton in 2010, her dear son Bobby Joe Slayton in 2019, and her two brothers, Jessie Frank Hicks and Ray Leon Hicks.
Lois Agnes Slayton will be remembered for her infectious smile, and her open heart. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
