Lou William Riesch

Lou W. Riesch passed away on April 3, 2012, in Holmes Beach, Florida. Lou was born in Chicago, Illinois, on June 13, 1948, to Roland and Ellen Riesch. He served in the United States Armed Forces between 1967 and 1973 and, during that time, completed a tour in Vietnam.

After returning home from the war, Lou married his high-school sweetheart Carol McVerry in 1971. They had their first child, Patrick R. Riesch, in 1974 and decided it was time to head to Texas. Their second child, Lou ("Louie") W. Riesch, was born in 1977, in Houston, Texas. The family ultimately made Mineola, Texas, their home in the summer of 1986. A natural businessman, Lou formed Bass Country Homes, Inc., which he ran with Carol until his son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Betsy Riesch, took the reins. In addition to being a business owner, Lou was active in his community, serving as President of the Mineola Country Club for several years.

Lou lost his beloved Carol in November 2008. Shortly thereafter, he retired to Holmes Beach, Florida, where he spent his remaining days fixing up and enjoying a family home and casting lines from his beloved boat, the Irish Angel.

Lou is survived by his sons, Patrick and Louie Riesch; daughters-in-law, Betsy Riesch and Kennon Wooten; granddaughter Karsyn Riesch; sister, Jodi Riesch; and numerous sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation for Mr. Riesch will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola from 1 - 2 PM followed by the funeral service at 2 with Father Nano officiating.
