Louise Billingsley Sims, age 90, of Quitman, Texas, died peacefully at her home on May 16, 2025.
Louise was born in Prattville, Alabama, in 1935 to Malfus and Adele Billingsley. She graduated from Autauga County High School in Prattville and studied at numerous colleges throughout her life. She took courses in nursing, homemaking, education, and clerical work. Louise held many different jobs, but was most remembered for her work as a Wood County Court Clerk. The job most important to her, however, was the many years she spent as a homemaker caring for her children and grandchildren. Louise was a devout Christian and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church for approximately 45 years.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents, Malfus and Adele Billingsley of Prattville, Alabama; her sisters, Katherine Duke and Aileen Peters of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and her beloved husband, William Sims of Quitman.
She is survived by her daughter, Katrina Burton, son, William Sims, and daughter-in-law Andrea Sims of Quitman; grandchildren David Williams and wife Kaitlyn of Tyler, Allen Williams and wife Dani of Terrell, Dawson Sims of Watertown, South Dakota, and Bethany Sims of Quitman; as well as her great-grandchildren: Kameron and Kinley Williams of Tyler, and Peyton and Reagan Williams of Terrell.
Visitation will be on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Quitman. The service will immediately follow visitation and will begin at 2:00 PM, with a graveside service afterwards at Ebenezer Cemetery.
