Memorial services for Margaret Gibson, 91, are being held at the First United Methodist Church in Quitman on Friday, April 11th, at 2:00 pm. Margaret passed away on the 3rd of April, 2014, in Quitman,Texas. She was born in Booneville, Miss., on 16 January 1923, to James Leroy Hodges and wife Mildred Pauline Murphy. Margaret was a lifelong Methodist and Democrat. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Quitman, from 1985, until she had her stroke in December 2005. She was part of the United Methodist Women’s Group as well as the Building committee for the church, and was always known for her congregational care to church members who were homebound. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her brother, Sidney Edward Hodges, and her husband, Thomas J. Gibson, and one son, Tom Gibson. She is survived by 1 son, James Sidney Gibson, Temple Texas; 2 daughters, Sara Vance Carlson, Athens Texas and Janela Pharr Webster, Quitman Texas; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Donations can be made to the Methodist Children’s Home, Waco Texas, and the Methodist Mission Home, San Antonio Texas.
