Marguerite Partlow Point

July 29, 1912 — February 15, 2009

She is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-laws: Philip Alan Point and Loye Point of Tyler, Texas and David Lee Point and Peggy Point of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren, Greg and Debbie Point of Warrenton, Virginia, Dwight and Lea Point of Prosper, Texas, Stephanie Point Schiotis and Phil of Forest Hill of Maryland, Mike and Kathy Point of Coppell, Texas, Sean and Betsy McAdams of Austin, Texas; thirteen great grandchildren and many friends who loved her dearly.


Mrs. Point was born July 29, 1912 in Frankston, Texas to the late Wiley Frank Partlow and Katie Merle Tanner Partlow. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Partlow, her brother, Vance Partlow and her husband, Philip Orville Point.


Marguerite became a Christian at age sixteen and joined First Baptist Church, Frankston. She graduated as valedictorian from Frankston High School and she attended Texas Wesleyan College in Ft. Worth. She was married to Philip Orville Point on June 26, 1929. She and Mr. Point moved to the Hawkins Community on August 9, 1941. She was a faithful Christian worker of First Baptist Church, Hawkins. She was Junior Superintendent for twenty-four years, worked with Children in training union and choirs. She was an adult choir member and church organist for thirty years. She taught piano and organ in the Hawkins area for many years. She served as church organist at Antioch Baptist Church, Tyler for several years. After many years of service a First Baptist Church, Hawkins. She and Mr. Point helped form Holly Brook Baptist Church near Hawkins. She was very active again with different capacities of church related work. She was church organist for fourteen years until she retired February 2, 1997. She enjoyed sing-songs and fellowships in her home, and her favorite table game of "42". She was also an avid and enthusiastic sports fan. She enjoyed watching ballgames on TV. This was her favorite past-time when she wasn't playing "42". She had a caring heart and sweet spirit which was an inspiration to her friends and family.


Serving as pallbearers will be, Jim Sawyer, Perry Miller, Harold Richardson, Roger Pace, Jack Robinson and Rev. Craig Lacy. Honorary pallbearers will be Rudy Fields, Bob Wehger, J.T. Allen, Sam Osteen, and Lecil Chandler.


The family would like to recognize and give "Special" thanks to Dr. Stephen Rydzak and staff, Hospice of East Texas and the dedicated and caring caregivers at different phases of her homebound illness: Lavita, Lou, Frankie, Shirley, Dianne, Helen, Alma, Juuel, Lorraine, Amy, Loretta, Vanessa, Linda, Dr. Judy and Jackie.

She was anxious to go home. Now she is there.
