Marnina Fransen

Marnina K. Fransen, beloved, mother, grandmother, and pillar of the Winnsboro community, passed away on March 12, 2024, at the age of 95, ending her valiant struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Born on April 2, 1928, in Vivian, Louisiana, Marnina's journey touched the lives of many and left an indelible mark on those who knew and loved her.


Marnina embarked on her life's adventure when she relocated to Winnsboro from Kilgore, Texas, alongside her devoted husband, James Fransen, Sr., when he took a transfer with Getty Oil and their cherished children, James Jr. and Sandra in tow. Throughout her life,she epitomized the virtues of dedication, compassion, and faith.


A dedicated homemaker for the majority of her years, Mrs. Fransen nurturing spirit extended beyond the confines of her home. She contributed her talents and skills to the community, working for several years at J.B. White. Her commitment to service and faith led her to become an integral member of the First Baptist Church in Winnsboro, where she shared her wisdom and love as a Sunday school teacher to countless individuals. Marnina unwavering devotion to Jesus and her embodiment of the Proverbs 31 woman served as an inspiration to all who knew her.


Marnina heart overflowed with generosity, evident in her countless hours spent volunteering with Meals on Wheels, bringing comfort and nourishment to those in need. Her passion for gardening was evident in the vibrant blooms that adorned her yard, a testament to her love for cultivating beauty and life. She found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will be forever treasured.


Among her greatest pleasures was embarking on fishing expeditions with her beloved late husband, James, creating memories that will endure for generations to come. Marnina's legacy of love, compassion, and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.


Preceded in death by her parents, Odie and Lillie Moore Dauphin, her beloved husband, James Fransen Sr., as well as two brothers and one sister,Mrs. Fransen leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be carried on by her surviving family. She is survived by her loving son, James Fransen Jr., her devoted daughter, Sandra Jaynes, and husband Michael, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Jamie Fransen and wife Ginny, Shalinda Kelley and husband Rocky, and Sheena Votaw and husband Jeff. Marnina's spirit will also be carried on by her four great-grandchildren, Jordan Taylor and husband Hayden, Bailee Forsyth and husband Tanner, Jake Kelley, and Beau Kelley, as well as her great-great-grandson, Noble Forsyth.


In the hearts of those she touched, Marnina's memory will forever remain a beacon of love, strength, and grace. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the profound impact she had on our lives and the legacy of kindness and compassion she leaves behind. Mrs. Fransen's light will continue to shine brightly, guiding us through the darkness with the warmth of her love and the radiance of her spirit.


The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 17th at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mrs. Fransen's name to Heart to Heart Hospice, 208 W. Shannon Road, Sulphur Springs, Tx. 75482 or to Whispering Pines Activity Department, 910 S. Beech St., Winnsboro, Tx. 75494.
