Martha Lou Hooks

Mrs. Hooks died June 6, 2009, in Mineola. She was born April 18, 1930 in Lindale to the late Roland and Onnie Beatrice Niesbit Gordon. She married her loving husband, the late Tommy J. Hooks in Willspoint on September 17, 1947. Mrs. Hooks worked as a clerk for the Mineola General Hospital for 25 years, was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, and worked as a Kindness Kottage Volunteer. She is preceded in death by her loving parents; husband; three brothers, Herman, Willie, and Roy Gordon; and two sisters, Dorothy Davis and Inez Sanford. She is survived by three sons, Mickey Hooks and wife Donna, John Hooks and wife Cheryl, Mark Hooks and wife Misty; five grandchildren, Eric and wife Cindy Hooks, Kelby, Bryce, Sheyene, and Shelby Hooks; and two great grandchildren, Hayden and Gabriel Hooks. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, at the New Hope Baptist Church in Mineola with Bro. Fred Morrow and Bro. Billy Buckingham officiating under direction of Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola. Visitation will be held Sunday night at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Kindness Kottage, Alzheimer?s Alliance, or Heart to Heart Hospice.
