Mary Akins

Mary Elizabeth McBurnett Akins passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019. She was born March 19, 1922 in Grand Saline to the late James T York and Irline York. Elizabeth and her life-long friend and sister-in-law, Carrie Dean, owned a drapery shop in Mineola for many years. Elizabeth also volunteered at the Christus Mother Frances-Ross Breast Cancer Center. Throughout her life, dancing was her passion. Now she's danced all the way into Heaven. She was preceded in death by husbands: Harry McBurnett, and Jim Akin, son, David McBurnett and brother, James T. York, Jr.. Elizabeth is survived by sons: Ralph McBurnett (Inez), Mark McBurnett ( Sally), daughter, Martha Joiner, David's wife Diana, 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Friday, July 26, 2019 at the 1st Christian Church of Mineola with Rev. Rick Son officiating. In lieu of flowers donations would be welcomed to: 1st Christian Church of Mineola.
