In Loving Memory of Mary Marjorie Ferguson
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Marjorie Ferguson on September 6, 2024, at the age of 87. She was a remarkable wife, mother, friend, and Mimi, whose life was a testament to her unwavering faith, boundless love, and selfless service.
Her legacy is one of loving faithfulness, demonstrated through her tireless work ethic, her perseverance through trials, and her steadfast dedication to her family. Marjorie lived a life marked by a deep devotion to God and a commitment to others. She cherished her 62-year marriage to James W. Ferguson, which stands as a shining example of enduring love and commitment.
She was a devoted member of First Assembly of God in Dallas, Texas, for over 35 years, where she served on the women’s committee. In this role, she hosted baby and wedding showers and provided meals for funerals, embodying her spirit of service and community.
A cheerful giver at heart, Marjorie delighted in surprising friends and family with thoughtful cards and gifts, always spreading joy and warmth wherever she went. Her elegance was reflected not only in her impeccable taste in fashion but also in her extraordinary culinary skills. Her cooking was a source of hospitality and comfort, as she welcomed others with open arms and a generous spirit.
Marjorie was also a dedicated educator, serving as a high school math teacher for 30 years between Mesquite and Rockwall High School. She retired from Rockwall but continued to stay in touch with her teacher friends, even hosting them in her home in Golden, Texas. Her students fondly remembered her as a sweet and beautiful teacher, one of their favorites.
In addition to her teaching career, Marjorie and her husband James ran several rock and mineral shops in Dallas and Ft. Worth and enjoyed traveling to collect and buy rocks across the U.S., Brazil, Morocco, and other unique places. They were some of the founding members of the Mineralogical Association of Dallas, a select group of mineral collectors in the area. Marjorie’s adventurous spirit led her to enjoy mountain climbing, rock collecting, and traveling to extraordinary places with family and friends.
Her life was a tapestry woven with acts of kindness, unwavering faith, and an enduring commitment to those she loved. As we say goodbye, we celebrate the beautiful legacy she leaves behind—a legacy of love, grace, and joyful giving.
Mary Marjorie Ferguson is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, James W. Ferguson; one son, James Koy Ferguson and wife Sarah; one daughter, Karmen Logan and husband Jeff; four grandsons, Jeffry Austin Logan and fiancé Rhema Fielding, Evan Logan, Ricky Garcia and wife Tamara, and Alex Garcia; two great-grandsons, Sabian Garcia and Christian Garcia; one great-granddaughter, Louise Garcia; three brothers, Fermon Tidwell, C.W. Tidwell and wife Reba Tidwell, and Paul Tidwell; four sisters, Fern Ronsisvalle Herman and husband John Wayne, Gladys Willhite and husband Paul Frank, Wilma Taylor and husband Reverand Thom Taylor, and Rosia Gonzales and husband Rick and sister in law, Glenda Tidwell along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carlis Wesley Tidwell and Ava Guice Tidwell; one brother, Bobby Tidwell, two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Tidwell and Lynette Tidwell.
A celebration of Marjorie's life will be held on September 13, 2024, at 10:30AM at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola TX, where family and friends are invited to join the family in remember her life.
Marjorie's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those she touched throughout her life. She will be remembered not only for her many accomplishments but also for the warmth and joy she brought into the lives of everyone around her. Rest in peace, dear Marjorie. You will be forever missed.
