Services for Katherine Scott of Mineola are scheduled for Thursday, January 30, 2:00 P.M., at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola with Reverend Jerry Williams officiating under the direction of Beaty Funeral Home, Mineola. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Mineola.
Mrs. Scott died January 27, 2014, in Quitman, TX. She was born May 25, 1925, in Hollis, Oklahoma. She was a graduate of Hollis High School, Hollis, OK, and Oklahoma State University where she was a member of Omicron Nu and Orange and Black Quill. After graduation, she was appointed a dietetic internship at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, MO, following which she received a position at Baylor Hospital, Dallas, TX. She married Dr. John W. Scott in 1950, and the couple moved to Mineola in 1952 where they have since resided.
Mrs. Scott was a former president of P.T.A. and a member of various civic organizations. In 1970, she was named Mineola Woman of the Year. She was a long-time church organist and Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Mineola, TX.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. John W. Scott, Mineola; son, Bob Scott and wife Sheila of Big Sandy and children Jessica Newlin of Longview and Cheyenna Johnson of Big Sandy; son, Bill Scott and wife LaJuan of Lindale and grandchildren, Katie Scott of Tyler, and Will Scott, Jr. and wife Jessica of Austin.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 29th at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Scott loved and served her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her family, and her fellow man. To God be the glory!
