Lou Simonds

Mary Lou Simonds, affectionately known as Lou, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on November 1, 1931, in Wortham, Texas, Lou was the cherished daughter of Clinton E. Wright and Tommie Hildreath Boals Wright.

A devoted wife and homemaker, Lou dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home. She was a longtime member of the Winnsboro Reformed Church, where she found great comfort and community. Her hands were rarely still, as she was passionate about cross-stitching, creating beautiful pieces that will be treasured by her family. An avid animal lover, Lou had a special place in her heart for dogs and rescued dozens throughout her life, providing them with loving homes.

Lou was united in marriage to Bill Simonds a partnership that lasted until Bill's passing in February 2020. Together, they raised a family that was the center of Lou's world. She is survived by her son, Perry Simonds, and his wife, Kristin; her sisters, Shirley Hawthorne and Gay Dearing; her grandchildren, Stephen Simonds and his wife, Savanah, Danielle Simonds, Elayna Simonds, Alyssa Schumacher, and Ryan Schumacher; and her great-grandchild, Madelyn.

Lou was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Simonds; her daughter, Ruth Ann Simonds; and her infant son, Clinton Simonds.

Lou's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to her family and animals will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her.
