Mary Jane Vanderslice

March 15, 1936 — June 2, 2012

Mary Jane passed away June 2, 2012, under the care of Heart to Heart Hospice.

She was born March 15, 1936 in Mineola to Earl Frank and Mary Jane Dubberly Rucker.

Mary Jane was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mineola. She was married 58 years to her husband, Kurt. Mary Jane graduated from Mineola High School before moving to Lubbock where Kurt received his degree from Texas Tech University. Upon graduation, the couple moved to Forney where Kurt was an engineer for Ford Motor Co. and Mary Jane was employed by Dr. James Biggart in Dallas. Mary Jane, Kurt, and their three girls were transferred to Michigan where the family spent three years before moving to Mineola. Mary Jane was an avid golfer and spent many hours at her grandchildren's sporting events where she was accompanied by her good friend, Marilyn Thomas.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Norma Earlene Rucker, and her grandson, Austin Stewart.

She is survived by her loving family including her husband, Kurt Vanderslice of Mineola; daughters and son-in-laws, Judy Vanderslice of Ft Worth, Karen and Craig Kizer of Mineola, and Kristy and Dwight Thomas of Arp; granddaughters and husbands Kristin and Pete Daley of Ft. Worth, Krista and Travis Dabney of Bryan, TX, Kara Kizer of Mineola, and Katy Thomas of Arp; grandson and wife Chase and Nicole Thomas of Canton; great-grandson Blake Daley of Ft. Worth; brother and sister-in-law Frank and Jackie Rucker of Hawkins; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
