Matthew Greer

Matthew Greer, Sr., was born on Tuesday, December 16, 191 in Winona, Texas to the parentage of Manuel and Paulina Nolan Greer.

As a young man, Mr. Greer served in the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) which was established in the early 1940's. Upon discharge, he was employed by the Texas & Pacific Railway as a section laborer for 37 years. After retirement he could often be seen riding his Kubota tractor, mowing lawns or plowing garden plots. On Tuesdays and Thursdays he could most likely be found at Addie McFarland Center enjoying a game of dominoes.

He departed this life on Friday, April 6, 2012 and was predeceased by his loving wife Cleo; his youngest son, Ronald; eight sisters; and four brothers.

He leaves to cherish his memories a son Matthew, Jr. and wife Danice; two daughters, Cleottiet Walton and husband Eddie, and Ruby Sampson, all of Mineola. Also surviving him, are nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
