Maurine Lindsay

Ms. Maurine Lindsay, age 89, a lifetime resident of Winnsboro, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 in her home. Maurine was born at home in Winnsboro on the corner of W. Myrtle and S. Walnut on January 20, 1926 to the late Horace and Irene Monday Martin. She was a retired Librarian from the Winnsboro High School, she was a member of the First United Methoidist Church in Winnsboro. Maurine was a former member of many civic groups and organizations, including the Rock Gym Committee, the Heritage Society, former WISD Board Member, former Presbyterian Hospital Board Member, and a former Woman of the Year in Winnsboro. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Milton Calhoun Hawkins Sr., and her 2nd husband, Kenneth Lindsay, sister, Hilda Jean Martin, and brother, Joe Martin. She is survived by her son, Buddy Hawkins and wife Barbara of Winnsboro; grandchildren, B.J. Hawkins, Jake Hawkins, Kelly Dean, Missie Watkins; eight great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
