January 1, 1959 - June 9, 2026

Melissa Gay "Missy" Mullins lived life with joy, determination, and a spirit that inspired everyone who knew her.

Born in Henderson, Texas, to Marvel "Moon" and Alice Ann Mullins, Missy moved to Mineola as an elementary school student. There, she formed lifelong friendships that remained dear to her throughout her life, especially with her fellow Mineola High School band members.

Missie's life was marked by both triumph and tragedy. She endured the heartbreaking disappearance of her sister, Marla Mullins, and soon afterward the loss of her father to illness. Through it all, she shared a special bond with her mother, Alice, who was not only her parent but also her best friend. Following her mother's passing, Missy suffered a devastating fall down a flight of basement stairs that left her paralyzed. Yet even in the face of such adversity, she met life with remarkable courage, resilience, and grace. She embraced life from her wheelchair with the same enthusiasm and determination that had always defined her.

Missy dedicated 34 years of service to Walmart, including 14 years while using a wheelchair. Her work ethic, positive attitude, and unwavering spirit earned the respect and admiration of coworkers and customers alike.

Known for her quick wit and playful personality, Missy brought joy wherever she went. She had a special nickname for nearly everyone she loved and never missed an opportunity to share a laugh. One of her greatest passions was golf. Whether before or after her injury, she could often be found on the golf course, navigating the fairways in her handicap-accessible cart. Her love for the game led her to win numerous championships and created countless cherished memories with friends. Missie excelled in both her work and her hobbies, but above all, she excelled at making people feel loved, welcomed, and appreciated.

She is survived by her uncle and aunt, Ed and Anne Watts; her cousins, Eddie and Matt Watts; and a wonderful circle of friends whom she dearly loved and who loved her in return.

Missy's legacy is one of perseverance, laughter, friendship, and faith. Though she will be deeply missed, the joy she shared, the lives she touched, and the memories she created will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
