Melva Fairchild

August 22, 1940 — October 29, 2021

Melva Lee Fairchild (Rice), age 81, passed away on October 29, 2021, at home. She was an identical twin born on August 22, 1940, in Greenville, TX. Her parents were the late Lee and Maude Rice. Melva attended Greenville schools where she was a class officer, cheerleader, and choir member. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1958, attended classes at ETSU, married, had 3 children, and amongst other jobs, spent many hours watching relatives’ children as well as those from the neighborhood. She was happiest when she was with her beloved husband of 40 years, B.C. Fairchild. They lived in Greenville until 1994 then retired to Holly Lake Ranch where they were members of Holly Tree Chapel. Together, they loved to eat out, watch their grandchildren, host holidays at their home, and travel until B.C. passed away in 2014. Melva then went to live with her youngest daughter in Allen in 2016 where she loved to cook as well as spend time with and spoil her grandchildren. Melva’s health began to decline, and in rare form, she went to her heavenly dwelling on the exact date that her husband had passed 7 years earlier.

Melva was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband, and son, David Kuykendall. She is survived by her twin sister, Belva Eason and husband Bill of Greenville, Texas; brother, Thurston Rice and wife Glenda of Greenville, TX; daughters Deborah Hilliard and husband Rob of The Colony, TX; Karen Murray and husband Gary of Allen, TX; stepdaughter Debi Morris and husband David of Sulphur Springs, TX; and stepson Scott Fairchild and wife Pinky of Savannah, GA. Melva is also survived by her beloved multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her memorial service will be at 11am on November 13, 2021, at Holly Tree Chapel 1620 South FM 2869
