Bro. Melvin Richard Harrell, age 76, of Winnsboro, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2006 in Tyler. He was born on December 3, 1929 in Wood County, to the late Tilman M. and Viola Lee Pinson Harrell. He was married on November 30, 1944, to the former Edith Darlene Gore. He worked for the Gilmer Potteries for 22 years, and was also a rancher. He surrendered to preach at Little Hope Baptist Church in 1960. He pastored these Baptist Churches during his 46 years of ministry, Smyrna and Center Grove in Winnsboro, Winterfield in Pickton, Concord and Latch in Gilmer, Ebenezer in Quitman, and East Point in Winnsboro for 28 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jerry Harrell, and a grandson, Steven Harrell. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Edith Harrell of Winnsboro; three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Ray and Patsy Harrell of White Oak, Ricky Melvin and Rose Mary Harrell of Winnsboro, Timmy Ricks and Frankie Harrell of Winnsboro; one daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Charles Johnson of Gilmer; six grandchildren, David Johnson and wife Jennifer, Mary Ann Mauk and husband Brian, Michael Harrell, Kenneth Harrell and wife Charla, Randy Harrell and wife Rachelle, John Harrell and wife Shanette; six great-grandchildren, Makayla Harrell, J.C. Harrell, Ciara Harrell, Kendy Harrell, Justin Harrell, and Tyler Harrell.
