Merlene Shirah

Annie Merlene Shirah, 83, of Mineola, Texas, passed away on May 2, 2021 in Anna, Texas. Merlene was born October 12, 1937 to J.D.Winslett and Ethel Eugina Weldon Winslett in Opelika, Alabama. She was married to Audrey Shirah. She liked painting, baking, fishing and spending time with grandchildren. She is preceded in death by parents; spouse; two brothers, Johnny and Charles Winslett; one sister, Dorothy Baker. Merlene is survived by three sons, Leon Shirah and wife Patricia of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Eugene Shirah of McKinney, Texas, Clint Shirah and wife Traci of Anna, Texas; two daughters Vickie Clark and husband Billy of Anna, Texas, Barbara Jean Barnes and husband Jay of Opelika, Alabama; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grand children; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, May 7, 2021 at Beaty Funeral Home, Mineola, Texas from 10-11 a.m. Graveside service will follow visitation at Pilgrims Rest #2, in Golden, Texas on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family has requested donations to be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
