Michael Horace Patrick was born September 18, 1941, in Golden Texas to Troy D and Edna Audie Owens Patrick. He attended Golden schools, Jacksonville Baptist College, and East Texas State University, obtaining a Master of Education. In 1968 he married Shirley Hill, and they began their teaching careers in Raymondville, before moving to Marble Falls,
Winnsboro, Matador, and Hudson, before retiring to Golden after 29 years in education. Mike was a coach, teacher and principal, who loved his students and teachers. Mike’s best friends were his two sisters, Sue Reed and Sandy Collins. They spent many hours singing together at church and even formed a quartet, The Goldenaires. Mike loved to travel and went on many trips with friends and family. Mike’s hobbies were eating, fishing, camping, playing dominoes, and watching sports, especially his beloved Texas Longhorns.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters and niece, Rhonda Robinson.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his daughter Hali Cleveland and her husband, Lorne; his son Wade Patrick; and his grandchildren, Olivia Britt, Ryan Cleveland, and Samuel Cleveland; his nephews Tommy Robinson and Jimmy Reed, and his special favorite nieces Joy Parker and Robin Gillian.

The family would like to give special thanks for all the support we received in these last days from Heart to Heart Hospice and Brookdale South, especially Mary, Amanda, Christy, Eddie, Michael, Megan, Sheila, Mae and so many others. Every person who came in contact with Mike noted his big smile and cheerful demeanor even during the difficult times. He touched many lives.
