Michael Paul Potter, born June 25, 1949, in Dallas, Texas, to Billy Paul and Johnnie Ruth Potter, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
After graduating high school, Michael proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War—a time that helped shape his enduring sense of patriotism and duty. On May 26, 1973, Michael married the love of his life, Mary Kinnard. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and faith, raising three children: Matthew, Michelle, and Mary.
Michael was a man of many passions. He enjoyed firearms, hunting, fishing, and spirited conversations about politics. Whether gathered around the table for a game night or sharing stories from his life, he was always present, always engaged. Above all, Michael had a profound love for the Lord, his country, and his family—values that guided every aspect of his life.
Michael is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Mary Potter; his son, Matthew Potter; daughters, Michelle Edwards and Mary Stewart and her husband Michael; his beloved grandchildren, Ashley Edwards, Jonathan Stewart, Elizabeth Edwards, Kaitlyn Stewart, Jacob Stewart, Joshua Stewart, and James Stewart; his sister, Linda Lewis and her husband Paul; and numerous extended family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Johnnie Potter, and his cherished grandson, Blake Edwards.
Michael’s legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to live on through the lives of those he held dear. His family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace in the arms of the Lord he so deeply loved.
