Mr. Michael Sevenants, age 83 of Mineloa, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 in Tyler. He was born on March 16, 1938 in Wisconsin to the late Robert Sevenants and Wanda Sevenants. Michael attended Grammer school in San Francisco. Jr. High and High school in Santa Rosa. Mike fell in love with chemistry while attending High school. He followed his heart at UC Davis and majored in Agricultural Chemistry, earning a PhD. His thesis was called "Studies on certain volatile compounds from peaches". Mike immediately went to work for Proctor and Gamble in Cincinnati. He worked in the flavor department where he helped develop Pringles, worked on improving Jif peanut butter. He created the patent for the butter flavor that goes in butter flavor Crisco among other patents. Mike took early retirement at age 62, and moved to Texas to be closer to his wife, Pat's family. Mike and Pat purchased 100 acres in Mineola, TX and proceeded to rescue horses, donkeys, goats, and dogs and cats. They soon realized there was no animal shelter nearby to help stray and abandoned pets. They started their own. They called it Animal Preservation of East Texas or APET. They purchased a building in Mineola and opened a thrift store. All items for sale are donated, and every penny goes toward taking care of the animals in the shelter. He is survived by his loving wife Jaynie Sevenants, two sons; Philip Sevenants and Charles Sevenants; daughter Cara Peluso and four step-daughters; Ginny Erke, Kathy Rainey, Jamie Gunn and Amanda Gunn; sister Sharon Lamparter; 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Graveside Service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Kelsey Cemetery at 11:00 am, Larry Polard conducting.
