Milford Weyman York

July 27, 1921 — February 25, 2007

Mr. Milford W. York passed away February 25, 2007 at the age of 85. He was born July 27, 1921 to the late G. N. and Dennie York in Van, Texas. He moved to Mineola in 1923 and graduated Mineola, High School in 1939. He was an Eagle Scout and a Scout Leader for many years. He Attended North Texas State Teachers College for two years and served in the US Army Air Force for 3 1/2 years during WWII. He later served in the Naval Reserve and then the Army National Guard, 49th Division. He married Claudine Vandiver in 1946 and was employed by Union Pacific Railway for 30 years in Dallas. He retired in 1985 and moved back to Mineola. He was ordained as a Deacon in the First Baptist Church of Mineola and was active for many years in churches in Alexandria, LA, Irving, TX, and Mineola. He was a Master Mason for over 50 years. He is preceded in death by sister, Myra Kitterman, and three brothers, Lindley, Pete, and Wilburn York. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Claudine York of Mineola; son, Rev. Larry York and wife Jeannie of Cleburne, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and David Renfrow of Bonham, Texas and Julie and Larry Zettler of Forney, Texas. Seven grandchildren, Kristen Piwetz, Brandon Renfrow, Erin Strange, Zack Zettler, Cody Zettler, Jared York, and Brittany York; two great graddaughters, Ashley and Hannah Piwetz, and one sister-in-law, Jean York of Mineola.
