Mona Kay Knight

March 29, 1929 — October 24, 2006

Mona Kay Turner Knight passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at home surrounded by her loving family. Mona was born to Lawernce and Julia Currey Turner in Winnsboro, Texas on March 29, 1929. She was one nine children; L.J., Lona Mae, Jack Day, Joy Fay, Nyla Ray, Jonny A, Norma Gay, and Tillman Clay. Mona was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, L.J. and Jack Day Turner, and her sister, Lona Mae Adams. She married Mr. John William Knight on June 21, 1947 and they lived in Winnsboro for most of their life. Mona was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandma. She loved all of her children and always put their desires first and hers last. The greatest joy in her life was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mona was a wonderful gardener. Her yard was admired for many years for its beautiful ferns and flowers. She loved her sisters and loved to gather with them at the lake and have a big "sisters only" reunion. The stories they could tell and the laughs they shared were priceless to her.

Mona is survived by her family who loves her so much; her husband of 59 years, John William Knight of Winnsboro, two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Betty Ann Knight of Winnsboro and Bart and Kelly Knight of Winnsboro; three daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie and Ralph Caviness of Chandler, Cindy and Roger Tinney of Winnsboro and Mitzi and Sammy Moss of Winnsboro. She is also grandma to thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; sisters, Joy Newcomb of Wichita Falls, Nyla Davis of Winnsboro and Norma and Deryl Bryce of Longview; brothers, Johnny A and Marie Turner of Quitman and Tillman and Virginia Turner of Houston. Many loving nieces, nephews, and friends also survive Mona.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3pm Friday at the Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro with Gregg Zackary and Dick Stagner officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Thursday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lee Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The Family wishes to thank Dr. David Murley and the nurses of Cypress Basin Hospice for their love, compassion and excellent care given to Mona. Mona's wonderful spirit and enduring love will abide in our hearts always.
