Neil Kelvin Burks, age 58, was born on Monday, September 6, 1954 in Amarillo, Texas to Boyd Franklin Burks and Jeanette Elizabeth Burks. Following the passing of his father, he was raised by his mother and stepfather Carol Treadaway. Neil graduated from Pecos High School and attended Howard Payne University. He is remembered for his leading roles in many theatrical productions. After attending college, he was an oil and gas land man. He was a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Carol and Jeanette Treadaway; sons, Joshua and Jarrod Burks; daughter and son-in-law Emily and Brondon Esco; brother Kent Burks; step sister, Phyllis Riley; grandchildren, Noah Smith, Benjamin Smith and Zoe Elizabeth Esco; many nieces and nephews; and long time friend Sherry Taylor and Sherry's granddaughter, Mackenzie Smith, whom she affectionately called Neilbob.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church Ministry Center at 3:00 PM with Rev. Dan Danheim officiating.
