Nelda LaRue McAdoo Bradley
November 11, 1931 – March 1, 2025
Nelda Bradley, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on November 11, 1931, in Winnsboro, Texas, Nelda spent her life deeply rooted in the community she cherished.
Nelda was the daughter of Homer LaRue and Lena McGee LaRue. She grew up in Winnsboro, where her warm smile and caring spirit first began touching lives. Nelda worked as a clerk for Arkla-Gas in Winnsboro, where her dedication and friendly demeanor were greatly appreciated by colleagues and customers alike. Upon retirement, Nelda and Alton enjoyed extensive travels.
A longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Winnsboro, Nelda’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She found great joy in playing the piano, painting, and especially in spending time with her dear friends. A resident at Autumn Wind Assisted Living for the last 8 years, Nelda enjoyed the companionship of the residents and staff. Nelda loved to visit, share stories, and brighten the days of those around her.
Nelda was preceded in death by her first husband, Don McAdoo, in 1988, and her second husband, Alton Bradley, in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Lena LaRue, and her brother, Obert Maury LaRue.
She is survived by her sons, Michael McAdoo and wife Lori, and Patrick McAdoo and wife Cindy; her stepsons, Bruce Bradley and wife Cindy and Mark Bradley and wife Sherrie; her grandchildren, Duncan and Beverly, Lauren, Lindsey and Matthew, Dillon and Shelby, Lucas, Molly and Colton; and her great-grandchildren, Kobe, Kendal, Kennedie, Kaitlyn, Kenzie, Kymber, Hudson, and Leyden.
Duncan, Dillon, Kobe and Lucas McAdoo, as well as, Tim Beard and Ricky Swanner will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the special staff of Autumn Wind Assisted Living, especially those who cared for Nelda with kindness and made her smile each day.
Grandma Nelda will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her love for her family and friends. Her legacy of kindness and warmth will live on in all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Winnsboro Resource Center, a cause close to Nelda’s heart.
