Norma was born on December 30, 1934, in Alabama, to the late Richard and Helois Kennedy West. Growing up in the close-knit community of Winnsboro, she developed a deep connection to her roots and cherished her upbringing. In 1988, Norma returned to Winnsboro after spending many years in Garland and in 1989 married William Clements.
Norma was a woman of many passions, but her love for the outdoors was unrivaled. She found solace and joy in tending to her garden, nurturing plants she grew herself, and preserving their bounty through canning. Her green thumb was matched only by her generous spirit, as she devoted countless hours to volunteering for various causes. Whether it was assisting with Vacation Bible School, teaching Sunday school classes at Hepsibah Baptist Church, or lending a hand at the Blessing Box in Winnsboro, Norma's dedication to serving others was evident to all who knew her.
A true thrifty shopper, Norma delighted in scouring garage sales for hidden treasures, always returning home with newfound gems. To many children, Norma was affectionately known as "Grandma," a testament to her nurturing and caring nature that extended beyond her own family.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Jerry Fails, her second husband William Clements, her brother James West, her sister Shirley Record, and her great-granddaughter Madylyn Fails. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Norma is survived by her children: Suzette Russom and husband Leighton, Mark Fails and wife Cindy, Steve Fails, Travis Fails and wife Shiela; grandchildren: Julie Ivey, Jonathan Andrews, Matthew Fails, Melissa Cornelius, Daniel Fails, Garrett Taylor, Gregory Taylor, Peyton Fails, Braxton Fails, and Jagger Moss; 16 great-grandchildren; as well as her brothers Jerry West and Robert West and wife Joyce.
Norma's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her warmth, compassion, and unwavering love for her family and community.
