Olga L. (Barnett) Turbeville passed away at age 81, on May 5, 2009, at Hospice of East Texas. She was born in 1927 to Clarence and Vada Barnett in Dallas. She grew up in Mineola and graduated from Mineola High School in 1945. She married her husband of 40 years, Grant Mansell Turbeville, in 1951. She traveled throughout the United States and Europe during her husband's U.S. Air Force career. After returning to Mineola, she worked at City Hall and retired after 15 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mansell in 1991; son, Grant R. Turbeville; and sister, Bina Hawkins.
Her sister and brother-in-law, Clarice and Billy Ray Pendley, survive her. She was a wonderful and loving mother to her daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Terry French, Mineola, Cheryl and Stan Stork, Longview, Lisa and Dean Lucas, Mineola; grandchildren, Keith French, Brandy Lyons, Amy Newcomb, Matthew Stork, Joseph Laxson, Melisa Lucas and Spencer Lucas; and great-grandchildren, Blake, Alexander, Taylor, Caden, Christian, Ethan, Preston, Abby and Lauren.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the First Baptist Church of Mineola with Dr. James B. Thompson officiating. Graveside services will follow at the Sands Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers include grandsons, Keith French, Matthew Stork and Joseph Laxson, and nephews, Roger, Melton and Paul Hawkins.
For those who wish to honor Olga's memory, donations are encouraged for Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, 75701, in lieu of flowers.
